Local Government

GMB has recognition agreements with councils, and are able to negotiate and fight for jobs, services and terms and conditions on behalf of our members.

We are able to do this more effectively when we have strong branches, fully trained representatives and an active membership.

We believe GMB members should be leading campaigns to fight the cuts. This means building a fight back which involves service users and the local community, holding demonstrations, meetings and rallies and ensuring there is press coverage.

In these circumstances it is more important than ever to belong to a trade union. Collectively your voice is stronger. On an individual level we represent members in grievance and disciplinary meetings, offer legal advice and also offer criminal legal support in the case of false allegations being made.
